Walkers Union Part of Slater and Gordon proudly sponsored a humanitarian aid mission to Moldova in May 2015.
The CWU Humanitarian Aid (CWUHA) expedition, has been part-funded by Walkers Union Part of Slater and Gordon, which provided the team with t-shirts, vehicle stickers and a donation of £2,500.
The mission delivered humanitarian aid direct to vulnerable children and families in the poverty-stricken country including a children’s Oncology hospital.
The trip also saw the team deliver equipment to the CWUHA funded renovation of a rundown school in Moldova, which is being transformed into an activity centre for disabled children.
The volunteers, headed by Carl Webb – Chair of the CWUHA, spent 15 days in the country in May to carry out the mission which coincided with the organisation’s 20th anniversary.
Carl, who is also the CWU North West regional secretary, said: “Our anniversary project is our biggest undertaking in 15 years so we’re very grateful for the sponsorship from Walkers Union.
“The contributions they have made will help us ensure we can get aid to the families and children who need it most.”
Tony Britlin, Practice Group Leader and head of the Trade Union department at Walkers Union Part of Slater and Gordon, said the firm was delighted to help.
He added: “We are delighted to have been able to support such an important and worthwhile cause which directly benefits those in hardship.”
The CWUHA has sent more than 36 convoys over the last 20 years, delivering over 3,500 tonnes of aid to unfortunate children and families in Bosnia, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Lithuania and Moldova.
